Last Harbour:

Manchester-based collective playing rustic, cinematically atmospheric songs that rattle and loom, at once epic and intimate, harsh and beautiful. Using instrumentation that might traditionally be associated with folk music, the band instead hammer and sculpt their music into unusual and beguiling forms. This is music with a strong emotional content, both bitter and beautiful. The new EP 'My Knowen Foe' is released on August 18th th 2008. Review quotes on the 'releases' page.

Anna Kashfi:
Purveyors of delicately exposed vocals set against elegant, textural backdrops haunted by the sounds of European folk and American roots music whilst maintaining a wholly modern outlook. Their first mini-album 'Philokalia' (2001) was admired by the late John Peel while the 'Palisade' (2005) album received much critical acclaim and a BBC6 session with Marc Riley. Their new album 'Procurement' is released on September 1st 2008.

Crazy Man Michael:
Songs that explore the depths of human experience with lyrics that are articulate and emotionally literate. Featuring lush arrangements and almost entirely acoustic instrumentation, Crazy Man Michael provides cautious hope in uncertain times. The album 'The Green Light' is released in late 2008.

Fuzzy Lights:
Formed in Cambridge in 2004, Fuzzy Lights create haunted, visceral music that pulls and tugs at its moorings like a long-lost soul. As well as touring the UK as guests of Young God Record's Mi & L'au, they have shared the stage with Jack Rose, Vetiver and MV&EE amongst others. Hard to pigeonhole as they combine both folk purity and psychedelic guitar noise with echoes of more traditional blues/Americana, their reverb-soaked, semi-improvised music is now collected on their debut album 'A Distant Voice' (released November 24th). Fans of Sigur Ros, Grails, Neil Young and Mazzy Star will find much to love here. Photo courtesy www.adriannettleship.com
